Starting Point
Founded over a decade ago in a Vienna bedroom, Schmusechor has grown into Austria’s most exciting vocal collective—a 50-person queer-feminist pop choir that merges live performance, haute couture, and unapologetic passion.
Known for extravagant outfits and safe-space empowerment, the choir needed their highly anticipated debut live album to go off with a bang across vinyl, CD, and streaming.
Creative Strategy
Fans are used to the polished brilliance of their stage shows, but the album artwork needed to pull back the curtain. Our concept was to capture the raw, unfiltered sweat, tears, and collective energy that fuels their sound.
We leaned into their vocal stance against sexism and racism, packaging a contemporary cultural phenomenon. It paid off: the album debuted at number 4 on the national charts, three spots ahead of Taylor Swift, just saying :-)
Design with Purpose
The design breaks the rules with tactile photo collages, raw close-ups, and overlapping layers set against high-voltage neon colours.
In sharp contrast to this beautiful chaos, we anchored the layout with clean, mono typography for a premium, sexy finish. Complete with a hidden interior image gallery and a crisp, pure-white vinyl pressing, the design captured a cult subculture and drove record-breaking physical sales.
